Comparing Our Top Two Rated Cast Iron Skillets

Cast Iron skillets are definitely an item that is going to last you a life time. The problem that you may have is not knowing which of the cast iron skillets you should be getting. I know this was the challenge that I had at first because the skillets that I was looking for had several different options on the market and this made it impossible to figure out which one we should be getting without doing a lot of work. This is why we rated the five best cast iron skillets for daily use, but also decided it was time for us to rank and compare the top 2 cast iron skillets that we rated earlier on in this series.

Features Of The Lodge 10.25 Cast Iron Skillet

The skillet is made from solid cast iron. This is going to make it easier for you to have a skillet that is able to be used for a longer period of time, but also know the skillet is going to spread the heat evenly without having to worry about it warping at all when you are using it or not spreading the heat properly.

With the 10.25 inch base this is going to make it easier for you to work on getting all the cooking completed. However, it is small enough that it will be able to fit onto almost all of the burners that you are going to have on your stove. So this will make it easier for you to have a great cast iron skillet that will help you use it on your stove, no matter how big your burners are.

Features Of The

The skillet is a solid 12.5 inches for the base of it. This is going to make it easier for you to get the skillet and know that it is going to work for what you need to have. However, at the same time you will notice this is a skillet that does have a wide base that may make it a challenge at times to get it to fit properly and flush onto your cooking surface.

This is a skillet that definitely has some good qualities about it, but one that stands out to us is the fact this is a skillet that is almost 3 inches deep. Since this is deep it will make it easier for you to get the cooking done in the skillet, but also know the skillet will be able to keep the work going for you for a longer period of time.

How Are They The Same

These are the same because they are both made from very good quality cast iron. That is a good thing because it means the pieces are durable and are going to last you for a longer period of time if you are caring for them properly.

When you look at these pieces you will notice they re both preseasoned. This will make it easier for you to have a skillet you can use almost right away. However, one thing that you will notice is you are going to have to reseason these once you get them home because they are not seasoned as deep as what you would want to have, but seasoning the cast iron, which may seem like a difficult job, is very easy for you to do.

How Are They Different

Well, the first glaring difference between these two cast iron skillets is the fact the cast iron skillet is bigger. However, the Lodge brand is only a 10.25 inch skillet. So the size of these are going to make a difference on how well you will like the skillet. If you want a larger skillet, then you will want to consider the , but if you want a smaller one that is very versatile then you may enjoy the Lodge product.

Now, I can speak from the Lodge and I can tell you that it is a very heavy type of cast iron that is extremely durable. However, the is not nearly as heavy from the reviews that I have read. So this is something else that I would consider is the weight of these because that can make a difference in how long the skillets are going to last, but also how easy they are for you to move around.

How Can You Decide?

The decision that you have to make is going to be a challenge. However, you need to make sure you know about the different cast iron on the market. When you do this you will notice that it is going to be easier for you to figure out which one you should be getting. This is why we have to say if you want a skillet that is smaller and will fit on almost all of your burners you may want to consider the Lodge brand, but if you want to get a skillet that is larger and going to work on getting your food cooked quickly and accurately, which both will do, you may want to consider the Fresh Australian.
