Lodge Enameled 6 Quart Dutch Oven
Well, I have to say I love the cast iron cookware I have does an amazing job of preparing meals that I would never have thought about making before. However, some of this comes from the fact the cookware is cooking faster, but at other times it is because the cookware is helping me in getting the cooking done completely because it holds the heat better. With that being the case, I decided to explore the dutch ovens a little bit more and in this case, I found the Lodge Enameled 6 Quart Dutch Oven and decided to give it our full attention this time in a review. Since that is the case, we have decided it was time to do this review because we have already ranked the cast iron dutch ovens and even provided reviews on almost all of the other dutch ovens as well. In this review, we will cover the features, what we like, and what we did not care for, as well as our conclusion.
Features Of The Lodge Enameled 6 Quart Dutch Oven
- Because this is an enameled piece of cast iron you will find that it is going to be easy for you to use it on all the different cookware surfaces you are going to have available. So you will not have to be concerned about the cookware not working for what you want it to do or even have to be concerned about the cookware scratching your cooktops.
- This is a cast iron cookware piece that has loop style handles on the side. This makes it easier for you to carry the dutch oven, but at the same time it will make it quite a bit easier for you to lock the lid down by using some of the different ties that will run across the lid. So this is going to allow you to have the perfect cookware and know it will work for what you need it to do.
- The piece is going to be good in the oven up to five hundred degrees and this is with the enamel that does not chip. So you will be able to cook almost all of the foods you want to make and even if you have to use the oven you will not have to be concerned about it wearing out on you or even have to be concerned about the cast iron chipping or breaking.
What We Like With This Dutch Oven
Enamel Finish Makes It Easier To Cook Anything In It
With a lot of the dutch ovens that are solid cast iron you cannot use them with your acidic foods until they have a great coating on them of seasoning. However, when you are using these you will find they are enameled which is going to make it easier for you to cook your acidic foods inside of the dish and know it will not be a problem for your needs or even better not have to be concerned about the cookware not allowing you to cook all of your food.
Has Loop Handles On The Sides For Secure Carrying
When you are carrying a dutch oven from your stove to the table or just moving it you want to have something to hold onto that is stable. With this model it has that as it allows you to have the handles that are properly secured to the sides as they are part of the dutch oven. Not only that, the handles come out away from the sides a little bit so you can easily hold onto the dutch oven and not have to worry about it being unstable or the handles wearing out or breaking off when you are carrying it.
Lid Has A Regular Round Handle Instead Of A Hard To Use Style
With a lot of the cast iron dutch ovens that we have talked about they seem to have the regular handle that has a little dip under the handle that is for the hand. This is rather small and in some cases can easily lead to you burning your hand when you are trying to get the lid off of the cast iron. The dutch oven here has a regular round handle that you can fully grasp and lift up to get it moved.
What I Did Not Care For
The Enamel In The Dutch Oven Can Stain
I did not think this would really bug me at first. However, after cooking in these for a long period of time the enamel, which tends to be like a pearl white will start to stain. This is just a stain so nothing really to be concerned about. The only downside is the staining can make it look like you never really take care of your cookware, even when you have spent hours scrubbing on it.They do have a solution for this, but I have not attempted it yet.
My Final Thoughts On The Lodge Enameled 6 Quart Dutch Oven
This is a great dutch oven that is made from cast iron, but even better it is going to have a solid form to it as well. This will make it easier for you use the dutch oven and know it will allow you to cook all of your food properly and because it is cast iron, you will have it hold the heat for you which means after you have pulled it out of the oven it will continue to cook the food and it can be used on the stove top as well. Overall, I really like this dutch oven and know that it will be around for years to come. So I would have to say I recommend the Lodge Enameled 6 Quart Dutch Oven to buy it and continue to use it for your cooking.
